1. I will use data collection a lot when I become a teacher. Surveys are a great thing to give students and maybe even their parents in the classroom. They can help give you feedback on things to improve in the classroom and things that were effective and people liked. This would be good to use for parents of students for me, as I plan to teach elementary school. However, parents will be able to give me feedback on homework and how things are done in the classroom and communicated to them. In addition to this, excel is a great tool to use. It can do things like calculate the class average on a test for you, so you don't have to. This can show if the test you gave was too hard or too easy, etc.
2. From reviewing my classmate's blogs, I was able to learn additional information on the lessons we had in class and other assignments. This was very helpful at times for me if I did not quite understand something, through reading my classmate's posts I was able to reiterate what it was that I was learning. In addition to this, I found it very interesting to read other people's opinions on things we did in class throughout the year. Also, how they did some of their projects and how each of us had our own creative spin on projects that were assigned to us in class.
3. I would really like to learn how to properly use Excel. I think it has so many functions that can be so helpful to teachers. However, I have no idea how to use it. I hope to learn some ways that I can take advantage of Excel. I will do this by listening in class as well as watching youtube videos on how to use functions in Excel. If I need it for something specific in the future I will look up a tutorial on it.

1. The flipped classroom is basically changing the way classrooms function to help students deepen their content understanding. An example of this is a teacher recording their lecture and having students watch the lecture for homework, rather than teaching it in class. This way, when the students come to class, they can do other activities, group work, individual work, and discussions about the lesson they watched for homework. This also gives the student better access to the information that they need, they can access their teachers actual lesson!
-Below I have linked an example of a flipped classroom lesson. This is my Psychology teacher from high school, we were given a week to watch this lesson, then the next week in class we did discussions, games, and other activities in relation to the lesson we watched at home.

2. I think something that is really awesome is Open Education. This is making education available to anyone. One thing the podcast mentioned was MIT's Open Education program where they have lectures online so anyone can view them. I think this is pretty amazing to be able to view lessons to one of the most prestigious schools in the country for free! No matter if you get a grade for the knowledge you acquire, you are still learning and that is all that matters.
-Below I have linked the website to MIT's information that they have available to the public. Here they have many different topics and subtopics that users can explore and look for specific topics or choose more general information.

3. I acquired many skills on powerpoint through doing these two projects. The main thing that I learned is how to record my voice and put it over a powerpoint, I have never done this before. I think my first time was okay, however I think there are ways to edit your audio and make it have cleaner cuts. In addition to this, I learned how awesome the use of animations are! They can really make a powerpoint more fun and interesting especially for younger students.

Technology and Teacher Professional Development
1. What did you learn today through your individual efforts?
- I learned about the extent to which Diigo can be used for professional development. It really is a great resource, I think all teachers should even be required to set up an account and join their schools group. It really helps teachers communicate with each other and share anything they want!
2. What did you learn today viewing the bookmarks and annotations of others?
-Through someone's post they shared on Diigo, again Diigo is awesome, I learned about an educational forum. Here, teachers can post to each other in general, and the forum even gets broken down into subject, so you could use whichever subject you need!

1. Adaptive technologies are a great tool to use in the classroom. They can range from very technologically advanced things, such as a language translator. Or it can be something very simple, such as a screen reader. Both of these technologies help benefit students in the classroom. They help it so every child has an equal opportunity to learn, as well as enabling every child to be challenged in the classroom and help them get a better education. These technologies can help a regular student, a special needs student, and even gifted students!
2. Bloom's Taxonomy is categorizing the different levels of learning and understanding of a given subject. It is something that is very important for teachers to be aware of and use to help their students learn to the best of their ability. One way to teach using Bloom's Taxonomy is through Powerpoint. For example, in a class of around 20 students, there is going to be some variety of which level of Bloom's Taxonomy each student is at. To utilize Powerpoint, I would include a variety of questions on each slide ranging from easy-hard. For students who already understand the hard questions, I could maybe have them explain how they got their answer, therefor helping to explain to other students as well as further understanding the subject themselves.

This website is a great place for teachers to stay up to date with the latest technology trends. In facts, this is exactly what this website was made for! It has tons of links to educational technology and the home page features what is new in the world of educational technology today.

1. So far, twitter has shown me that there is a whole different side to twitter that I did not even know existed. I follow a lot of educational accounts and pages like NASA, that post interesting facts and new scientific information. From these, I have seen posts from teachers about interesting things that they are doing in their classroom as well as some of their student's work. From just the general education pages, I see posts about interesting tools teacher's can use in their classroom. This includes programs like Edmodo and Kahoot as well as updates to these applications and ways to maximize the usage of these programs. The benefit of using Twitter is that it is so up to date on everything. Nowadays, pretty much every company has a twitter account that posts about their product. In addition to this, teachers post and share with each other their experiences and things they are doing in their classroom; from these they are able to interact with each other.
2. I do not have much yet to my webpage, however, I am happy with what I have at the moment. I made sure everything that I put into my webpage is going to be useful for students and their parents. Another important element of my webpage is the design and layout of everything. I wanted to make it super user-friendly so everything could easily be found.

3. From working on Diigo in class I have actually downloaded it for my own personal use. It is such a useful tool and I use it to bookmark things for some of my classes and it has really helped me to stay on top of my work. I know when I start teaching it is something that can be super useful for me. I think it would be even more beneficial in the future because I can organize all of my lesson plans and pages that I found useful, as well as seeing other teacher's saved pages.

Teacher Productivity Tools
1. What did you learn through your individual efforts?
- Through my individual efforts, I learned about how great of a tool Excel is. It can be used for classroom budgeting, your own personal attendance records, and grading. Especially for grading and budgeting, Excel is an application that is made to do the math for you. It is definitely something that I am going to be taking full advantage of in the future to help assist me in my teaching. In addition to Excel, I learned about an app called Wunderlist. It is an online to-do list that you can share to others. In addition to this, you can attach documents, and other information that can be shared to anyone you want. This would be a great tool for teachers to use to further connect with parents as well as keeping students on track with their work.
2. What did you learn from others?
- From others, I learned about how great of a tool Google Docs is. Google Docs again is a great app that can be used for sharing documents to the parents and students in your class. You could also share your documents to other teachers. Google Docs is a great tool because it is safer than just saving things on your desktop. Computers are unpredictable because they can break or sometimes completely wipe their memory. Google Docs, however, is through your own personal account so all of your information is highly unlikely to somehow be erased. It is definitely a very secure and useful app that would be really great for a teacher.

Contrast:
- The contrast on this webpage is good. The background is a green color while all the text is on a white background. If this were to be printed in black and white, it could still easily be read.
Repetition:
-Similar visual effects are repeated throughout this webpage. Titles are in blue, below the text is in purple. Everything is organized so that it is very easy to read and navigate.
Alignment:
- Everything is aligned, the main title and links are all centered. While the rest of the page is broken into 2 columns which from their have aligned titles and text. In addition to this, all of the pictures are aligned as well.
Proximity:
- Similar visual elements are grouped together, she has links to different things in her webpage, like her about me page, that have its own visual element that is different from the home page. From these links, things within these tabs are all group together in a very organized way so things are easy to find.

Education and Web 2.0
What did you learn about this weeks topic through the Diigo activity?
Diigo is a tool that enables students, teachers, and people to do what is called social annotating. What this website is, is a online bookmarking tool that can be easily installed to your browser. Once installed, you can bookmark, annotate, and share pages you have found on the internet. This is an awesome tool for teachers and students to use. For example, in class we found educational websites, bookmarked and shared them to our classmates. In addition to this, we read educational articles and left annotations and highlights throughout this. Not only is this great for your own personal use, but your group members can also see your highlights and comments if you want them to! From here, they can leave additional comments and highlights. What is so great about all of this is that people are learning through the use of technology and interacting with other teachers, students, and peers in their class. Diigo is such a great tool that I think all teachers can benefit from, it is definitely something I can see myself using in the future.

1. I went on an elementary school website. From there I went to a page for a fifth grade class. On this page, the teacher had links to all her weekly newsletters, links and documents, a "what's on your mind tab", links, and an about me page. The weekly newsletters are hyper-linked and organized so parents and students can easily find and access them. The "what's on your mind" tab is a discussion group type thing where students can post things and interact with one another. The links tab has a bunch of useful information that students can use to help them with their lessons and learning.

2. I really like the way this teachers page is set up. It seems useful and would benefit like it says, students who don't remember what they need to be doing or forgot their agenda. It also helps parents stay connected with the about me page and the weekly news. I envision myself having something very similar to this page. My favorite thing from it is the weekly news, this really helps kids stay on top of their work. In addition to that, if a student doesn't under stand their work, the links are a really helpful resource they can take advantage of to help them understand the lesson. A teacher page like this one definitely help the classroom function more effectively and efficiently.
3. One thing from the technology sandbox that really stood out to me where the smart boards. I think these could be extremely useful in the classroom. It was not only like a regular white board with a projector, but it was interactive. Students are able to engage in games, immediate feedback, and even cooler things like 3D models that can be used throughout your lesson. I can really envision myself using something like a smart board in the future to help with my teacher. I think it is really interactive and hands on and can only benefit students learning. In addition to this, it is definitely something fun that the students will be excited to use and participate in.

1. Web 2.0 technologies can be an extremely useful thing to use in the classroom. It is definitely a good thing that they are no longer optional. However, I think some of them are more useful than others. Some of the more useful ones are things like podcasts (what I listened to to get this information), blogging (what I am using to make this post), as well as something like Napster, which allows for peer to peer sharing. These things can definitely help in the classroom for students and teachers. It helps enable us to share information to people where before wouldn't have been possible without Web 2.0 technologies. Some of them can be a little bit risky too. Things like Wikipedia, and Wiki where anyone can put in information can lead to a lot of inaccuracy. It is important that we teach students, and teachers to know how to use Web 2.0 to their advantage.
2. I think the tool Library Thing is an awesome thing that teachers can use in the classroom. For example, for a lesson if students were assigned to read The Great Gatsby you could then have them go on to Library Thing and connect with others who have also read it. Here they could obviously ask questions and get into discussions about the book. It is like an online book club. I think doing this would also encourage students to use Library Thing for their personal books and would then encourage reading and discussions of their readings.

3. I think Gamification is a technological advancement that holds a big promise for education. Turning learning in to fun games definitely increases motivation and the understanding of the content. Not only do I think it would work for younger students especially but even high school students benefit from it. Whenever I have been able to use games to learn, it has made me so much more engaged and interested in the lesson being taught. I also think this is awesome for students who are unmotivated, I think it would help their motivation if what they were learning was taught to them in a fun way.

1. My use of twitter so far in this course has enabled me to see how beneficial it is to an educator. I have a personal twitter account and I never knew about the educational side of Twitter before. I think it is an awesome thing for teachers to take advantage of! I have seen posts from things like Brainpop a very awesome site my teachers used to use as well as places like NASA. In addition to these companies using Twitter, I have seen Twitter accounts used by other teachers. They share things they have been doing in their classroom and other things like that. I think in the future it will definitely be beneficial in my career. It is a way to connect with other educators.
2. Digital Divide is definitely an issue in schools still today. It is unfair when one student has access to a computer and internet at home while another does not. Especially with todays increase in the use of technology in the classroom, it is hard on some students. Causes of digital divide may come from the environment in which a student lives in at home. In the future, I will want to make the way I teach fair to all my students. To do this, I would give students ample amount of time to use the technology resources at school so each has an equal opportunity to learn. In addition to this, I would try to assign many activities as just in-class assignments in case students do not have access to a computer at home. This way, each has to use what the school already has provided and it is equal for all.
3. In the future, I expect to use desktop publishing, graphics, reference, tutorials, and educational games. I think these are really great software to use in the classroom and can really help increase the learning environment. Not only this, but I believe all the things I listed above are very user-friendly. This is great for someone, especially me, who is not very good at computers to use them in the class. Ones that I think I would use the least are simulations, authoring systems, ISL, and special needs. I do not think these are any less than the ones I listed before, however, I do not think they are as beneficial to me. Some seem like a teaching strategy that I am not interested in and I do not plan on working with special needs kids at the moment. I think they are just less common softwares to use. As of right now I want to work with older (4,5 grade) students which would include teaching all sort of subjects most likely. I think the software I mentioned above will be the most beneficial and versatile for that sort of environment.

1. I think the ELA standard that has prepared me the most to teach with my existing knowledge is RL.7, "Multimedia: Literature". I think this standard is a great way to help with the learning process. For example, reading The Great Gatsby and then watching the movie. Students can then see again, what they just read as well as dive in to the similarities and differences of the two. I think I am most prepared in this because it is a very common standard a lot of teachers use, so I have personal experience with teachers using it to help educate me.
2. Based on chapter 9, I think discussion groups are an application that I think is extremely useful in the classroom. It helps students connect, respond, and see others thoughts on what they are learning. With using discussion groups, it is extremely important that the educator goes over digital citizenship guidelines. This would include making sure students are safe and respectful while using anything online. I think the age range for using a digital chatroom could start at about middle school time. I think at this age, students are aware of what is ok to share with everyone in a discussion group and what is not.
3. I learned a lot of things while making my newsletter. I learned how to add in fun boarders, and change the background color of my document. I really liked how creative we were able to be in making this newsletter it was actually a very fun assignment. The only thing that I did not like is that it was time consuming. However, I think that I have now gotten the hang of it and in the future, will be able to work much faster in word. Next time, I would also like to really see what types of things and features I am able to use in Word so I can be even more creative with my final product. Below I added a picture of my newsletter that I created in Word.

I chose 5th grade Social Studies under standard SS.5.A.5 . From there, I chose the American Revolution. I am critiquing a lesson plan found under the title: "A 'Revolutionary' Approach to Learning History". I think this lesson plan is a great tool to use. It has things like Concept Questions as well as how a teacher may choose to actually teach the subject, and Guiding Activities. I think this is an awesome use of technology. Not only as an educator, by using this website to help you with the way you teach. But also for students, as there are many links, videos, and pictures that are also found on this lesson plans that can be made available to students to look at through a device. Another thing I like about this lesson plan is how thorough it is. It has day by day plans, advise, key concepts, and suggested activities. In addition to this, the many links it offers leads to articles, videos, and pictures.

Blog Journal 2
1. I have used Microsoft word a lot through out my middle school and high school career. Mostly, I have used it to write any sort of essay I was assigned. In addition to this, I have used Word for other assignments, for example: writing a children's book. Word is also an awesome tool to use for visual projects like making a poster or any sort of graphic design. Teachers have used word for many different reasons too, like using it to make a syllabus or to make a poster for their classroom.
2. I do not have much personal experience with copyright but I have seen some instances in high school. In my TV Production class we had restrictions on what we could use as far as music for any of our projects that we made. It was one of our jobs to check and make sure any of the music we used was royalty free. In addition to this, in my graphic designs class from high school, we always made sure to change our search results using the usage rights tool. As a teacher, I would make students aware of what copyright is and explain to them when it is important that we do not use anything that is copyrighted in our work.
3. One of the issues mentioned in Chapter 11 is the Legal Issue. This would be something like Copyright, like I mentioned above, my solution to this would simply be to make the students aware of what copyright is and how to avoid and search for things that are legal for them to use. Another issue mentioned is a Social Issue. This could be something like the students equity of access. My solution to this problem would be to always have an alternative to something that is required online. For example, if the assignment is to write an essay, I would make it an option to hand write the essay to turn in. Also, for anything that is needed to be done through technology, I would allow for plenty of time to work on it in class so each student has the opportunity to get their work done. Finally, Ethical Issues do arise when using technology in the learning environment. To solve this, I think the best thing to do is to make sure students are taught how to use the internet and technology safely and just simply explain to them the things they can and cannot do when it comes to technology.

1. Teachers use technology because it is essential in educating children in the 21st century. Technology skills for teachers are now considered to be baseline skills required to teach a 21st century learner. Likewise, it is essential that students know how to use technology in being that the world we live in today is so technologically based. We use technology everyday! This is why it is essential for students to be taught technology starting from a young age.
2. One ISTE standard that stands out to me is one for educators. It is the Collaboration standard. I think this is extremely important in helping you be the best educator you can be. Collaborating helps you gain knowledge from a completely different mind or group of minds than your own. For example, if you were to take the feedback from your students, they could really help you improve your class. I think one standard that might be out of my current skill level, is the Designer standard. I think I need help in using my creativity to create an educational technology tool that can help me educate.
3. I agree with the label Digital Native, I have grown up with technology in my life. I do not think this is a bad thing. However, I also grew up around teachers and adults who were digital immigrants. Growing up with the guidance of a digital immigrant was sometimes challenging, sometimes the teacher would not know what they were doing at all. I think because my generation of future educators are Digital Natives, we should embrace it and use it to our advantage. I do not think we should completely forget about a time before internet, but it is an awesome tool to have and we can really use it to our advantage.

Blog Setup
My prior experience in technology is not very big or advanced. In high school I became Photoshop verified after taking a course and a test. In addition to this, I took TV production for 3 years and got verified in Premiere Pro after taking a test. I have also taken technology courses throughout my high school career like intro to information technology as well as a photography course that required the use of Photoshop as well as Blogger. Lastly, I have taken 5 online courses that have shown me what learning online is like.
In this class I hope to learn more about how we can use technology to educate. My major is Elementary Education and I believe technology plays a huge role in this major especially in this day in age. I hope this course will help assist with the learning process and make things easier for us now as well as when we start our teaching careers. In addition to all of this, I hope this course will show me what my future career will be like and how I will use technology to do my job. I hope to learn a lot from this class and that it will show me that Elementary Education and technology go hand in hand as well as ensuring me that this is the major I want to pursue.
